Condo Mania: A Triss Mackey Mystery

by Tim Chawaga

For readers of John D. MacDonald and Kim Stanley Robinson, Condo Mania is the second in the Triss Mackey sci-fi mystery series, set in a near-future, flooded Florida.

In the Florida Yoreshore, a mob of money-grabbing developers rush in to build quick and shoddy housing on newly deregulated land. One project, Condo Maxxxima, rapidly outpaces the rest, building one floor a day, incinerating the ecosystem that Triss Mackey and her friends have spent their lives trying to protect. In a bind, Triss is sucked into the pyramid scheme that is Condo Maxxxima, and finds herself trapped between competing corporate agendas. When a woman goes missing and Triss disrupts the plans of a particularly dangerous founder, Triss’s independence is no longer the only thing at risk. With her community, environment, and autonomy on the line, she must find a way to stop Condo Maxxxima from taking over the yoreshore before it’s too late.

Condo Mania is a wildly fun cross between a zany Florida mystery filled with colorful characters and climate-fic sci-fi. Chawaga's future Florida is richly imagined, and his heroine is a flawed, compelling woman of action who readers will want to dive into an adventure with.
